We understand that inviting someone into your home to help with your technology requires trust. Here are the answers to the most common questions our neighbors in Polk County ask us.
General Questions
What exactly is a “Tech Advocate”?
Unlike a typical repair shop that just fixes a broken screen, an Advocate works with you. We don’t just click buttons; we explain what we are doing, why we are doing it, and how you can do it yourself next time. We are your partner in navigating the digital world safely.
Do I need to be “tech-savvy” to work with you?
Not at all! In fact, most of our clients start with very little computer experience. We specialize in teaching beginners. If you know how to turn your device on, you’re ready to start.
Do you come to my house, or do I come to you?
We come to you. We believe technology is best learned in the environment where you actually use it—on your own Wi-Fi, with your own printer, and in your favorite chair.
Safety & Privacy
Is it safe to show you my banking or Social Security info?
Your privacy is our highest priority. While we help you navigate these sites, we never record or store your passwords. We teach you how to enter them securely yourself. As a Google Certified Cybersecurity Professional, our founder ensures that every session follows strict security protocols to keep your data private.
What if I think I’ve been scammed already?
If you suspect a scammer has accessed your computer, shut it down immediately and give us a call. We can perform a “Security Sweep” to look for unauthorized software and help you take the necessary steps to secure your accounts.
Services & Pricing
How much do your sessions cost?
We believe in transparent pricing with no hidden “diagnostic fees.”
- Standard Session: $85 per hour.
- Senior Discount Bundle: Pre-pay for 3 sessions at $199 and save over 20%.
- Note: Most first-time visits take about 60–90 minutes.
What devices do you work with? We work with almost all consumer technology, including:
- Tablets: iPads, Kindle Fire, Samsung Galaxy Tabs.
- Phones: iPhones and all Android smartphones.
- Computers: Windows PCs, Laptops, and Apple Macs.
- Home Tech: Smart TVs, Printers, and Wi-Fi Routers.
Can you fix a cracked screen or a broken physical part? We focus on software, setup, and education. If your device has physical damage (like a shattered screen), we can help you determine if it’s worth repairing and recommend a trusted local hardware repair shop.
Appointments
What if I need to cancel? Life happens! We just ask for 24 hours’ notice if you need to reschedule so we can offer that time slot to another neighbor.
Can my daughter or son join the session? Absolutely. We encourage family members to sit in if they’d like to see what we’re learning together.
